Monitor Web Site

Monitor any changes on a webpage with Refresher Web Monitor. Get notified by Email, SMS, onscreen pop-up or custom sounds through your speakers if a change occurs. Great for monitoring stocks and shares, job sites, online auctions or email via web access.

To monitor webpage changes, click the 'Monitor' check box on the right-hand side of the refresh controls (Fig 1.0 - Monitor check box):

Also ensure monitoring is enabled, check the Monitor tick box (Fig 1.1 - Enable Monitor check box):

Display Web Monitor Toolbar

1. Tick 'Monitor' check box.

To remove the Web Monitor Toolbar, uncheck the 'Monitor' box.

When you start refreshing, the content will be monitored from then onwards.

NOTE: You will need to start refreshing in order to Monitor web page.

If you untick and the re-tick the "Monitor this webpage" tick box, the web content will be monitored from then. There are several notification levels to choose: Email, SMS, Beep, Custom Sound or an onscreen pop-up. The email notification can send the web page in an HTML email, or send the web page as an attachment on the email. If emailing the web page as an HTML email or as an attachment, the images on the page may not be displayed (unless they are refered to with the full url : i.e. http://www.myRefresher.com/images/NameOfImage.jpg)

NOTE: When the monitor restarts, the visits go back to 0.

Sound when page changes

1. Click on Options in the file menu.
2. Then Click Settings...
3. Then Click Web Monitor tab
4. Then select a sound file on your computer using the web monitor sound button.
5. Then click OK.

HINT: When starting the web monitor, if looking for text added, this will include any text on the current page. Therefore, determine how many occurrences of your text/word(s) there already are and then increment that by 1 in the occurrences text box. Web monitor will now know to check for (i.e.) 9 or more occurrences of your word if there are currently (i.e.) 8 already.

Double-click the "Occurrences" box to have a message prompt to show how many occurrences of the word(s) there are at the moment.

Hint: Web pages will load faster if you Block Images. (Please note that this will remove all images for all Internet Explorer web surfing). See related link Advanced Settings.

Settings available - Monitor Type

• Any Change: If ANY text changes on the page.
• Text Removed: If the text in the 'Text' column is removed.
• Text Added: If the text in the 'Text' column is added.
• Continual: If the text in the 'Text' column is changed, Refresher Monitor will then monitor the new value until that value changes, and so on. - Great for auctions so that you do not need to keep re-typing the "Text" to monitor.

HINT: To monitor a change on a constantly changing webpage, select "Continual". Otherwise, you will have to reset the values that you are looking to monitor.

For example, if monitoring "Continually" for the value £5.99 and that value changes for £6.01, you will be notified. If the new value £6.01 changes, you will be notified. However, if monitoring "Text Removed" "£5.99", if the text is removed for £6.01, you will then need to manually reset your monitoring value to "£6.01".

Configure SMS Settings

1. Click on Options in the file menu.
2. Then Click Mail/SMS tab.

We recommend using a company called ClickSMS (Click SMS) or Clickatell (ClickaTell) for your SMS Gateway requirements. They are very cheap and offer a corporate reliable service.

SMS logs are kept in "REFRESHER INSTALLATION PATH\Logs"
