Happy New Year

From all of us here at Computech, we would like to wish you a Happy New Year.  What a year 2015 has been, with many trips to the US including Elk Grove Village, Cressona, York, and Oshkosh to visit just some of our customers.  We also welcomed new developers to our team and will be doing the same this year, as Pedro Noguera joins us.

We have so many exciting projects happening in 2016, some of which are ongoing and it will be great to see those customers go live soon.  Our team have been working really hard together with our customers, so that they have their desired ERP solution.

Software Update: FileMaker Server 14.0.3

Software description

This software updates versions 14.0v1 and 14.0v2 of FileMaker Server 14 to version 14.0v3.

Software details

This software addresses an issue where the FileMaker Script Engine (FMSE) caused the Database Server to stop responding.

Windows updater instructions

To ensure a smooth update, disable virus detection software before applying the update, and re-enable it after you are finished. You may be prompted to locate the original installation software during the update process.

Before running the updater

  1. Disconnect all clients and close all files.
  2. In FileMaker Server Admin Console, stop Web Publishing and the Database Server.
  3. Quit FileMaker Server Admin Console and the Start Page, if they are running.
  4. In the Windows Services Console, select Services (Local).
  5. Select the FileMaker Server service, then choose Action menu > Stop.
  6. Quit web browsers before applying the update.

Note: For a two-machine deployment, stop all FileMaker Server services on both machines. Then run the updater on the worker machine first, followed by the master machine.

Install the new software

  1. See FileMaker Server 14 Getting Started Guide, chapter 6, “Upgrading or moving an existing installation,” for detailed instructions on upgrading FileMaker Server.
  2. Double-click Setup.exe. (Note: Do not run FileMakerServer14v3Update.msp.)
  3. Read the license agreement. If you agree to the terms, click Update and proceed as directed.
  4. After the update has completed, you will see a message confirming the successful update to the new version. Click Finish to quit the updater.
  5. Restart the machine.
  6. Verify the version has been updated:
    1. Open the FileMaker Server 14 Admin Console Start Page.
    2. Under Software Update, the Current Installed Version should now start with 14.0.3.

FileMaker Fun At DevCon

You can have a peak at this years #FileMakerdevcon.  This video footage is clear evidence that FileMaker developers are not all about writing scripts… In fact they can party pretty hard like the best of them!

FileMaker developers from all over the world turned up in Vegas to celebrate FileMaker’s 30 years and what a bash it was.  Not only was it incredibly interesting during the day, but the evening, well you only have to watch the video to witness the spectacle, it was so much fun.

This year was particularly special for us, as we were able to give a short presentation and really announce our FileMaker Plug-in Synergize.   We were able to demonstrate how it powers our ERP solution BusinessMan, by adding Web portals, calendars and charts easily, which is not native to FileMaker.

Check out the video and hopefully you will want to join us next year.

FileMaker Devcon

We are extremely excited to be in Vegas for #FileMakerDevcon this year.  Every year we attend only to find the atmosphere buzzing with fresh new development and technologies.

This year we have a stand, as it has been huge year for us especially with our innovative new Plug-in Synergize.  This way we can demonstrate our portfolio of products such as BusinessMan ERP, FM Scheduler and Synergize FM.

We will also be giving a presentation highlighting in a nutshell how Synergize gives you the ability to create flexible, dynamic interfaces such as dashboards, charts, calendars, email Apps, or any other type of graphical interface that uses web technologies, within your own FileMaker solution. Synergize contains its own PHP web server and uses raw SQL queries (including SELECT, UPDATE, INSERT and many more) to access your FileMaker database, returning large data queries in the blink of an eye.

If you are a FileMaker developer attending DevCon, this is one presentation you should be adding to your list.  This Plug-in could change the way you work and enhance your customers solution.
